Profile
Enrique Cantu has been a member of TX DPS for sixteen years and is currently a Sergeant in the Highway Patrol Service stationed in Edinburg, TX. He is a graduate of Texas A&M Kingsville with a Bachelor of Science-Criminology. His future endeavor is to continue to network with other law enforcement agencies that incorporate Unmanned Aircraft (UAS) in their program and promote higher education and excellence within the technological resources in agencies that deploy the arsenal of UAS. Sergeant Cantu has been a part of the DPS UAS program for over three years and has deployed to various UAS operations throughout the state. Recently, Sergeant Cantu has been deployed to work Operation Lone Star in Fronton, TX where he obtained real time criminal intelligence on Mexican Cartel gun battles. This mission provided pertinent information to USBP and the Mexican GOM. He has completed the Department’s UAS RPIC School, Ambient School, and Thermal School. Sgt. Cantu has several hours experience in the following platforms: DJI Mavic 2 Pro, DJI Mavic 3T, DJI M30T, Autel Evo-II, and Autel EVO 4T. Additionally, he is certified in Drop Payload Delivery and has completed the Basic NIST Proctor and the Advanced NIST Confined Space Proctor Courses. He continues to assist instructing various Department RPIC schools and has assisted the USAF training their personnel in UAS Thermal training.
